How the blazes are you supposed to get nice landsape shots when there is a hazy sky?

I drove over to Betws y coed today for a last day of sunshine and relaxation before going back to W**K tomorrow.

Beautiful scenery around the Snowdonia national park, but a nasty hazy sky ruined all the landscape images. The camera records it as a pale lifeless white expanse a kin to being over exposed.
Even with a Cokin p120 filter on I couldn't get any detail in the sky.

suggestions please :help:

You dont. At least not good ones

Thanks

I checked out your tutorial, these skies are way beyond !!!!

I think the only way i could improve them would be to cheat the image and add a sky :(

I don't like adding things that aren't there though, to me thats digital imaging, not photography.

I find a lot of 'dead' skies can be rescued with the shadows / highlight tool but it all depends on the shot

ah........Brains......

Is the new cafe open at the top yet?

I'm aiming to get up to the top of Snowdon again this year, but not until I can grab a cool drink and admire the view :D

Thanks

Used to replace skies in the day of wet darkroom, was that not photography, was it cheating or was it using the resources at your disposal to improve an image. :bonk:

adding a sky later isn't recording the scene as it was, so for me, the concept of "painting with light" is lost.

I'm not opposed to adding and tweaking to get an image, but the aim of the thread was to try and get things right from the off.

:)

Yep tell me about it. I spent Sat night night on Moel Hebog in Snowdonia hopeing to catch both sunrise and sunset. I caught em both but couldn't see a blasted thing other than a faint sun.

Useless photography wise and I didn't get one decsent pic out of the whole trip :(

This isn't the first time it's got me either. It seems to be happening a lot this year.

Something to do with french farmers apparently

This kind of thing

aye, thats about the size of it :(

Imagine that scene in the mid day sun, the haze seemed to bounce back the sunlight and make it look worse.

Ah, not much you can do with them, file 13 perhaps???:'(
