day 34, lost assets

day 33, lost assets by aralia.photos, on Flickr

i have these 2 in pride of place in my room some thinks its strange that i keep them others think they are amazing, i found both of these none were forcibly taken from the animals.

the smaller lighter one in the front was the first one i found, about 6 years ago when walking the dog, and the larger darker one in the back was found about 2 years ago in a nature reserve :)

I rather like lost assets  it takes me back a few years ago, actually when I was in the middle of my GCSE exams in the week or so break we had I joined my dad on his annual fishing holiday on the duck of devonshires estate in Ireland and in the lodge there was a massive pair of anterlers from the now extinct Irish Elk/Moose I'm not sure which but they were massive well over two metres tip to tip

Lovely shot Hayley, well lit and great detail

thanks everyone, and wow that must of been very impressive makes mine seem rather small haha although cant seem to think them ones were found

Great shot Hayley - lovely and bright and sharp

Glittery shot Hayley , would love to see it against a different background !!

+1 on this, the edges seem too blown out / over exposed on some of the edges of the bottle. Although maybe that is the look you were going for in which case ignore me and carry on

That drip just coming off the brush is fantastic, Hayley.

I was reading the Flickr titles and saw it said day 35? Today is 36.
Regards to what I'd do differently. First off, a plain background, so not to distract from the actual item.
I'd have focused on the nearest part too as that's what the eye is first drawn too.

Like the nail varnish, but agree with Jake on the jewellery, the focus is out and the background is too busy for the subject.
It's hard to get focus on that many items with a macro lens, unless you stack the image. Best tip I can give would be to shoot less items, either 1 or three, not two unless earings as that doesn't seem to work. Also a fairly plain background or an added background will show the objects better. When I was shooting jewellery I used to pop into W H Smith & look at Vogue & Tatler as they have some great shots in them.

Looking at magazines is some great advice!

thanks guys will keep those tips in mind for next time :)

day 37, rosette

day 38, new foster

day 38, new foster by aralia.photos, on Flickr

this is our new guy come today as bella has gone to her new home in essex this poor fella is mighty old and properly going to be with us till he dies, he has no use of his back legs and they sent him to us with a wheelchair, he cant get up and down the steps to the garden and if you try and lift him up he squeals in pain, the only way he can be helped is if you hold him up by his tail poor thing.

if you ask me he should be put down and put out of his misery as its so sad to see him try and get around its mean to say it i know but i think it would be the best thing for the poor old man.

lovely photo of him Hayley :) But definitely agree with you ...... Its a shame but if it means he has no more pain then it would be the best option for him - I'm sure if he could speak he would be telling everyone to do that for him.... It isnt fair to see him and know he is in so much pain :(

The birds are a bit sinister looking and I like the lighting on 'lost assets' :) The rosette reminds me I have a board of old ones somewhere about - from many years ago!

not having a good day today, as some of you may of known my camera was having a few technical issues and i got that fixed yesterday managed to get a mate of mine to fix it up for me during the day, but in doing this he factory reset all the settings on the camera, this includes the time and date.

so yesterdays and todays photos date don't match up to the days they were taken as i got the date wrong ( haven't known what the date is scine i left school haha) so yesterdays says its date is the 7th and todays says it is yesterdays but this has now been fixed after i got very confused when editing through them :(

so here goes

yesterday i didnt have much time to plan out a photo scine the camera was away being fixed it was kinda a quick just get a shot kind of photo

day 40, whats that i see?? by aralia.photos, on Flickr

sorry about the background guys due to his legs he cant go out the garden at the moment so not able to get to a nice spot for good looking background's

but today he is looking much better and we are trying to build up his muscles and strength enough to be able to take him out for a short walk and try and give him a more normal life, he does have a wheel chair but hes not that keen on it.

He's a wonderful looking Dog, we had one very similar to his when I was only very little and I don't remember too much about him other than what a great do he was :D

:) he is a very nice dog and would of been a wonderful dog to own in his day, hes very large and very smart and a looker too, i have grown up with shepherds never had a bad one yet

It's on tonight if you want to check it out! :)

ITV3 at 9!
missed it damn :(

Lovely Hayley ,

thank you :)

Some good shots & well done for giving him a happy old age. But can understand your feeling that being put to sleep would be kind. I know I couldn't have let my whippets not be able to walk.

thank you, one of my old shepherds had to be put down because of her back legs sadly its a very common thing for them and i have owned 6 or 7 shepherds now and out of them only 1 has not suffered from his back end giving way, even ali our current resident shepherd suffers from leg problems

I have looooads to catch up on! Some lovely shots there. Especially love oil and water, and the antlers shot. Also, that shot of the light is quite interesting too for some reason. Quite like it too :)
