Yes
I have a copy of office that I want to install onto a new machine. I have un-installed it from my xp machine and am trying to install it on my windows 7 64 bit machine.

I don't have a disc, just a key card, so have downloaded it from the microsoft site.
When I run the installer, it falls over when it extracts. I think it is trying to extract the files to my SSD which houses my OS, but that is all but full so I think that';s what is going wrong.

So I have extracted the files to my hard drive which contains all my software. But when I go to run the setep.exe file, it says that the language of the installation package is not supported by my system.

Anyone able to shed any light on that?

.

Have you downloaded a non English version in error?

Rather than extracting the files yourself, run the installer from your HDD and let it do the extraction.

Stratman is probably right, I think you're trying to run the wrong executable, if it's office the installer may well have a .msi extension.

Definately the english version, the file name is Office2010_English_x32

If i move it to the HDD and let it extract itself, it still doesn't work. It starts extracting, gets to about 85% and then throws up an error message saying 'the installation of this package failed' with no further information.

The setup.exe file opens up the proper windows installation box, I can't see any other setup files it might be....

This is all the files after extraction.

You're installing to a W7 64?

I have downloaded it several times, from various locations.

This particular version comes from the office.getmicrosoftkey.com site.

I have also tried downloading the free trial with view to authenticating that, but it does the same thing.

Yes, that is correct.
My first thought was it needs a 64bit version, but a bit of research shows it should run some sort of 32bit emulator.

II have tried looking for a 64bit version, but had no joy.

Try double clicking autorun, top right in your screenie. Also (if you're running win7) up at the top left you should hopefully see an "Organise" tab, click that, choose the View tab in the window that pops up and untick "Hide extensions for known file types" in the list of options, this will let you actually see what you are clicking on.
