Having trouble help!!!

can anybody help me on this i am trying to add a new signature in elements, i get all set up and go into edit/ try and click on define brush from selection and it will not let me, it will let me click on define pattern but i don't want that, why will define brush not let me click on it . help !!!:bang:

Are you trying to use the selection? Your best bet is to make the text in black on a white background the size you need.

Hi swanseaman47. This is what I have done i have typed my signature on pc , printed it , photographed it , got it in edit in elements , used the rectangular marquee tool around signature, then go into edit for the define brush from selection and it will not let me click on it. Then it should come up with brush name dialog box to name my signature. Help!!

Curious as to why you had to photograph a printed image of your signature....
Is the image set to higher than 8 bits? (Image->Mode->8bpp)

I don't know anything about Elements but in PS there is a size limit and you cannot create a brush if your image is over this size, nor will it "recognise" white. Do either of these help?

Cheers , I will try with a smaller image (signature) as that sounds like it could be the problem.

It could be several things, size and bit depth as mentioned, what format is the scanned document now in when you open it in photoshop? does it have any layers?
Why not just make a new document in photoshop and use the type tool directly on that? why did you need to scan the printed image?

Cheers everyone I have done it , I done as swanseamale42 said , made new document in Photoshop used the type tool with my signature then click click all done . Thanks again folks for your help.
