That's really OLD

No it really isn't.
Our scientific understanding indicates it will end, but we do not know this for absolute fact. We can't.
It also depends on your definition of "end".
Is the end when it becomes inhabitable by humans? Is it when it explodes? Is it when it has no atmosphere etc etc

i think you'ill find it already is inhabited by humans
So, using the same reckoning - you're not going to die at some point, because it hasn't happened to you yet?![]()
But really do we have to go down this pedantic route? The thread is about something else. Lets get back on topic.
We don't have to go down this pedantic route - but you'll need to go remove your posts that started it off to stop it derailing again.
It's been seen elsewhere in the universe. The Sun will grow so large that it takes up the space the Earth currently uses. End of World, but possibly not the end of the Human race.![]()

Yes we can. We can observe what happens to millions of other stars at various stages of their lives, and therefore know what will happen to ours. It will be utterly consumed when the sun becomes a red giant in around 10 billion year's time.
Well, if the world does end, im making sure im sat by Sir Alex Ferguson, he always gets an extra 10 minutes
... "not"?... I may as well be explaining why the earth is not flat.

Well, the point of the Heat Death of the Universe, when it reaches maximum entropy, looks a likely candidate for a genuine 'end' to any of those discussions.

"For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night."
1 Thessalonians 5:2
I.e. expect the unexpected as far as the second coming is concerned.

)Anyone who believes this nonsense should be made to spend the week after the 21st walking the streets personally apologising for wasting everyone's time with their gullibility. If the Mayans were so good at predicting the future, where are they now?
that's not a fact.
Our best guess is that the world will end at some point. Theres a difference between what we can predict scientifically and what is actually a fact.

Do you not think, when they were working out their calender, someone just said "that'll do for now, we can add more later..." and just never got round to it.
Exactly apart from the universe apparently nothing is infinite. Someone has written a 2500 year calender they had to stop eventually.
the guitarist from radiohead believes it so much he is hiding out in a hotel in the middle of the rainforest in Brazil for the month!
