Have you ever been a TV contestant?

Yes
Well, have you? And what was the show?

I've only ever met one person that has and he won a car ... he was only about 20 at the time too.

Wow, so you've shared a dressing room with Jet!?

I was on "15 to 1" years ago. Got knocked out in the final round by a Patrick Moore lookalike who was a genius on general knowledge.

There's a few regular posters in the Classifieds been on Crimewatch

Never a contestant but did appear on Newsround when they did a special report on Sutton Utd after they beat Coventry City in the FA Cup many moons ago!

I've appeared on Songs of Praise and The Clothes Show back in my school days.

Sharron Davies in a swimming costume* was just about more than a 13 year old could handle in those days!

* on The Clothes Show, not Songs of Praise, obviously

I spent many an afternoon at Yorkshire TV testing out puzzles for a game-show-ish thing called "Fun And Games" - originally with Jonny Ball, later with Rob Buckman as host. It was all lateral thinking puzzle challenges, like "if a hen and a half lays an egg and a half in a day an a half, how many eggs will 2 hens lay in a week?"

One week, the show forgot to book some actors, so my friends and I appeared AS the puzzle - 3 robbers, with swag bags and lines :D First and last time I did TV! LOL

I've been on Fifth Gear twice (not a game show, obviously), but having entered a writing competition a couple of years ago with Shell and Evo magazine, as part of the promotional stuff I got asked to be in a photoshoot (so my ugly mug appeared on Shell forecourts for a while), and went on BBC Berkshire radio to be interviewed about it. Got to the final 3 out of 1500 initial applicants too.

Someone I was at college with went on Family Fortunes in the early 80s. They said Bob Monkhouse was a lovely bloke who really put them at ease and treated them like old friends.

Bloke who I work with won blockbusters - he also looks like Richard o brien, but was never on the Crystal maze

I once worked with someone who had a monumental falling out with Jim Bowen while filming something (possibly bullseye, did JB do any other game\quiz shows?).

Super, smashing, great.

I've got a mate who appeared on Supermarket Sweep with his mum.
He never mentions it. Not surprising really. But it's great material for embarrassing him with.:lol:

I was on "jim'll fix it" and he fixed it for me too milk a cow blindfolded :D

My old football team appeared on a show hosted by Gabby Roslin, whatever you want.

We had a challenge in the studio where they picked one member of the team to compete against someone on another team - we won that so the next week we had a match against the other winners. We had Frank Stapleton as our manager, and the other team had Markk Bright. We lost the match 2-1 but the match highlights were played with Gary Lineker and Alan Hansen doing the analysis - you could actually hear them laugh at one bit of poor play from our team!

It was a good couple of weekends, but in the studio it's fair to say everyone was terrified and I understand now why people freeze up on live TV sometimes!

I was on Catchphrase - unfortunately not during the Roy Walker "it's good but it's not right" era, but with Nick Weir. He had fallen down the stairs a couple of days early and was in plaster. Came second but took away a reasonable day's pay!

Also was on Wipeout with Bob Monkhouse. I can confirm that he was a really nice guy, very funny and made you feel comfortable in the weird world of television. He was also very generous with his hints leading up to the final prize round!

I was on TV on channel 5 when I was about 19/20. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called but it had Ben Shepard presenting it with some other randoms. The special guests on that day were John Regis and that lad from corrie, adam something - he had just released a single.

Anyway my part of the show was to take part in a blind date type contestant with 2 other lads called karaoke kiss. The three of us had to sing and the girl would pick the winner from the song, she couldn't see us. The other two lads could actually sing and took it really seriously - one sang wonderwall and the other sme backstreet boys song.

I sang Too young to Die by Jamiroquai and I dressed the part too. I spent 2 weeks growing a beard, wore a big furry hat and those bright red addidas joggers with the poppers down the sides with a white animal fleece. I can't sing so I really went for it, dancing all over the stage.

John Regis almost had a heart attack he was laughing so much and he gave me a high five at the end and even after the show he was still in tears.

Surprisingly I didn't get selected for the kiss with the girl. The backstreet boy did, the couple were given £40 to go on a date but they just split it between them and went home. Me and the other contestant went for a beer with Ben Shepard and the rest of the presenters. Nice guy
