I live in Staffordshire and would love to travel to Bruge.
Anyone been there by air, rail or car ( I would prefer air form Manchester airport) and can recommend a good hotel close to the City centre and detail their travel arrangements.
Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

I went just before Christmas, a beautiful city. I went by Eurostar which was very easy and convenient (but I do live in London).

We stayed in a place called Martins Hotel. Was perfect for us and right near the main market square, very good service too.

The bars and variety of beers are second to none, found everyone very friendly, would defo recommend.

Hope this helps

We've been with the kids and loved it, it's a beautiful city

We did the P&O cruise ferry from Hull, it sails in the evening, the food is excellent and well worth the cost, a buffet of all different foods, really well prepared, there was entertainment put on, singer, bingo etc, go to bed, wake up in time for breakfast then it docks about 8am

We just did a friday night sailing, saturday in bruges by coach,(about 30 mins drive) pick up at 5.30 ish then the same in reverse, back in the UK 8am sunday morning, you can stay the night in a hotel so you'd be there all day sat and sun and arrive back in the UK monday morning but you'd need to find your hotel.

I have to say I really enjoyed it, something different, it's not the Queen Elizabeth but it was adequate though if I did it again i'd pay for the cabin upgrade.

Once you're on the boat you're not driving until sunday/monday morning so you don't have to worry about driving if you want a drink.

I've been there twice - both times by car but I do live in SE London/Kent.
Stayed at Ter Brughe the first time and at Bryghia Hotel the second.
Both good, Bryghia just has the edge, and both walking distance from the centre.
Lovely place to visit, very photogenic and lots of buildings are lit at night.

Many Thanks Guys, really appreciate the detail provided I dont really fancy taking my car over since I'm in middle England to start with but will give the other options a look at including the hotels mentioned.
Thanks again, anyone else have info please.
Dave

Last time we went to Bruges, we drove to Ostende, and stayed in a hotel there - much cheaper, and only 15 minutes on the train to Bruges, which worked a treat!! :)

Ditto! and can highly recommend it. Bruges is a beautiful city - very picturesque with lots of beautiful buildings - and cheap Belgian chocolate!!!

I would love to go, entirely based on having seen the fab film, In Bruges
