Have Sony improved their colour science?

Lets prefix this with the standard disclaimer "these are only my personal subjective opinions etc etc"

I've shot with many different cameras over the years (GAS anyone?) and I know theres some serious differences in how the various brands render colour. Of all the bunch I really disliked the Sonys (A6000) colours the most (esp skin tones). I know they do make great sensors / cameras but I just found the files really horrible to get the colours as I like them (see disclaimer above).

I was watching a D5, 5Div, A9 comparison video onTube recently (will link when I'm at a desktop) and it had a 'blind portrait test' between the three cameras. I took it and I was more than a little surprised that I preferred the A9 in most of the pics (there was a few where I liked Nikon and only 1 where I preferred Canon!). Now I know this was only one case, but I really wasn't expecting that result.

Have Sony changed their colours in the latest batch of cameras or is it a case of my tastes changing over time?

Short answer yes, Sony have been improving their colour science, I'm not finding a big difference between what I used to get out of the Fuji XT-2 and the Sony A9.
I'm doing very little post-processing these days compared to my DSLR days so considering getting a iPad Pro to speed up the workflow even further.
 
have to ask when did it start being called science, its always just been canon/nikon/sony colour pallet has it not. then again its minimum depth of field and how its rendered and not this boowka or however you spell it to me:confused::p
