Hi All

I've never had to register a camera before through nikon But as I bought my D5100 new I've decided to do it. thing is, I'm not sure if it's correct or not?

I've had the welcome email it talks about but no form of "your product is now registered" or anything?

It's showing as registered so that's fine.

Hmmm, I purchased mine new from LCE last week and they said they'd automatically register it for me for the 2 year warranty. I didn't see any emails so after seeing this thread, thought I'd register it anyway just to be safe.

It hasn't sent me any emails other than the standard welcome ones. It would have been nice for Nikon to at the very least acknowledge the warranty registration via email.

Never had a problem registering Nikon items on the website. They all showed up as registered which is all that is needed.
I once registered an item by phone and got a letter acknowledging that, but the online record would never show it.

I'm pretty sure that there's no requirement to 'register' as you're covered under UK and EU consumer law anyway. Extended warranties are a total waste of money, designed only to make sales people richer, and 'registering' a product is for the benefit of the company. Once they have your details they can bombard you with advertising unless you tick a microscopic box hidden in the small print.

And I'm a not cynic. :D
