Have I made a decent job of this?

Yes
Processing is a weakness of mine. Usually I just give my pictures a crop, curves adjustment, sharpen and maybe saturation boost because that's about all I know how to do. On this one I thought I'd test myself and see if I could get away with more. Have I done it well, or does what I've done stick out like a sore thumb?

Even larger is available if you want.

Did you spot it?
I had two shots, one where I'd not used a strong enough grad and blown the sky even more than here, one where I'd messed up the comosition a bit but used a stronger grad and not done a bad job with the sky.
I've merged the two together, but couldn't get them to quite line up properly. A bit of stretching here, some careless cloning there and I was left with this. Does it work?

I guess this is HDR the long way round...

Any tips & pointers appreciated

The sky looks dramatic moving in from the left and the composition is good, lots to see and think about. The colours look a little pale and the shot is IMO is over sharpened. I do like the light source entering from the right it seems to balance the overall picture.

it looks very nice and the best thing is that it doesn't look edited but the contrast in the sky is abit over epxosed one side and under exposed the other

I see what yoiu mean about the sky. It was a rediculously contrasty scene and I've already darkened the right side about as much as I feel I can get away with. I actually quite like the left as dark as that- it was a hell of a stormy day and it is reasonably close to what I remember it looking like.

I quite like it. It would be interesting to see the 2 shots you used.

You may want to have a look at this forum for some advice on retouching. It's a new forum but may be a great source of info, tips and advice.
