Today I purchased a Hoya PRO1 Digital filter to act mainly as protection for my Canon 24-105 L lens. I thought I was buying a clear filter but find on getting home that it is labelled UV.

I see that Hoya do make this filter in clear. I'd appreciate advice. Would I be better off staying with the UV one or should I swap it for a clear one as originally planned?
 
You'd be better off using your lens cap and lens hood and going "naked" as nature intended.

It'll be OK though, UV should be colourless.

I always buy UV filters to protect my lenses. So, I don't think you should worry.
And I always by Hoya on eBay - way cheaper that any other source I could find so far.

If I'm not mistaken PRO1 filter is a slim one. If so, it does not have front thread. You won't be able to use you lens cap. Just wanted to point that out.

It seems to have just the right threads so the lens cap (and hood) fit fine.
