Just checked i paid expert shield with paypal using my credit card, that card was a preferential interest card i have had for about 40 years, the bank closed that card at the end of September saying they could no longer offer the low interest rate,i removed it from my palpal account a while ago so no one can spend on it any way before i get it sorted.

I have checked paypal and no unknown activity there.

Looks like an Amazon page but it's not Amazon, it's absholdings which looks like an umm...interesting site.

My next step when they open is to ring expertshield,i will also ring the CC company as i now have a new card from them and i dont want to look like ime trying to use the closed one, cant ring at the moment though as ime waiting for a important call, although i had a look i would not give any details over the net so if its phishing its a waist of time.

On further checking the order number quoted by expertshield is the order number from my 1st of June order

It's a pretty standard phishing email, not a hack.
Delete and forget, surely.

^ that
@mikew - pay attention to the actual website address (bondage and fetish retailer) as well as what it looks like (Amazon page).

Pretty standard phishing email, but the re-use of the order number suggests that someone has a security problem - probably ExpertShield, definitely ABS Holdings, but you need to change your email password to be sure. Right now, don't reply until you've changed it.

Phishing scam.

Look at the URL on the "amazon" page. Clearly not Amazon.

Hope you didn't enter your amazon username and password, id get that changed ASAP if you have a linked bank card and/or one-click payment.

Had exactly the same one this morning. Looking at the email address usually gives it away, some random numbers and letters @'insert address of company here' always makes me suspicious. Have orderd things from Expert Shield but not for a while

Thanks, all i have done is on the supposed Amazon page selected the tick option for was this page any help,NO :D,think its Expertshield that will have the security problem.

think its Expertshield that will have the security problem
Assume that as a result of this information an undesirable person has access to every piece of information you've provided to Expertshield - including your email address and any password used on the Expertshield website.

Well i payed through paypal and as i say the card details they may have are out of date, possibly why they want new details,i will be asking for a complete explanation from expertshield though as to how this can happen.

Just got this reply from expertshield,i think someone went home and left the door open :D

Hi Mike,

Thank you for getting in touch.

I'm afraid we've had some technical issues with our email system this morning which has resulted in a large number of our customers receiving this email in error, even if they have not placed an order with us for some time.

Please be assured that you do not need to respond to the email - please do not click on any links contained within. Please just delete the email - thank you for your understanding and apologies for any inconvenience caused.

All the best,

It looks like ExpertShield don't realise they are being used in phishing scams - but it depends what you and others told them. If you all just complained about old order references they may assume their email system had gone mad.
As it happens ExpertShield are just down the road from me and I have sent the head honcho a private message linking to this.

I've had a reply from ExpertShield saying in part "Customer card details are handled off-site so these weren't at risk."

FYI, if you get an email which makes you think 'Im not sure about this'.......DO NOT click on any of the links.
