Hi

Im on one right now due to personal circumstances of trying to sell two flats at the weekends and recently married and with work I just seem to have no time...

The last pics I took seriously where on my honeymoon and even then I wasn't quite in the zone if you get me...

I miss it but to honest struggle to find the quality time I require. I think next year once we move it should be easier... but then with the new house and quite a demanding job (50+ hours a week) Im thinking i'll always struggle....

But I guess what im asking is how many of you out there have taken a break for whatever reason...

How did you find your insperation and time to get back into it? Did an equipment purchase kick start you again for example? Did you just make the time? Did you get cuter with time... rather than devoting whole days ... just fit in a half day here or there?

Just interested as I'm feeling the time that has lapst I'll be lossing something... but then the good thing about photography is that its not age dependant!

I moved to my present address in 1999, and had a spell where I hardly did any photography at all - I'd say for a few months before moving and another couple of months after settling in. I soon made up for it once I allocated some space for a darkroom. I had a sink installed and made a workbench and shelves - didn't take me very long to get back into full scale production, as it were. :)

After being in the hobby for about 35 years I had a break for a few years.
One day I picked up a photo mag in a shop just to see what developments had occurred.
I caught the bug again, but I am avoiding going at it hammer and tongs.

:I can understand your situation ,I had a spell where I could not get motovated to take pictures at all, and then a period when I just did not have the time .
Now things have changed completely , due to work being very slow and my wife being made redundant on friday ,I now have loads of time for photography HOORAY , but no spare cash ,anyway a fridge full of film and plenty days off work I just need the weather to change.
Im sure once you have fixed out your property sales etc you will find some time somewhere.
Good Luck:thumbs:

Welcome to married life. You now know what it feels like. Just you wait until you have a baby - that's when the **** hits the fan :gag:

Seriously speaking, once you move house and things settle down, you will find time to get back to your hobbies. But this won't be the last time that you find yourself completely tied down, not being able to do things you want to. Such is life.....

every day until some event comes up
the trouble with not taking a break is you get stale and take trash

I have a 4 month old a 4 and a 1/2 year old. Its the older on that stops the photography, the little one can't get out of his pram yet and goes where I want.:D

If I'm lucky my wife entertains the older one and I get some photography time with the younger one (until he needs feeding or changing)

I had about 12 years from being professional to doing any sort of photography just for fun. It was decent digital slrs that got me back into it. I'm now getting poorer by the month because for it though :D

I had a break for 15 years due to a new business venture and working 7 days a week then a Divorce. A friend lent me his 350d 2 years ago which i loved and got back into it again from there. It has been a very expensive 18 months though but lots of fun. :D
