A while back I opened a thread asking for info about different places to live because the wife had got a couple of job offers in the South of England. Good to say we landed in West Berkshire.....Which is a lovely part of the world......imagine my surprise when she comes home from work to announce that she now has a chance of more promotion but it will mean moving to the south coast ( Brighton to Hastings area).... now i need to ask for the great favour once again....Where to live? what area the different areas like? is there areas to avoid? We are going on a fact finding mission in a couple of weeks but I am trying to gather as much info as possible so as not to waste time on the trip..

Thanks in advance.....

I have recently lived in Brighton (Kemptown)and still visit there at least 5 times a year. It's a fantastic vibrant city. However it can also be a little seedy at times with it's itinerant community. For this reason, if I was to ever live in the area again, I would without doubt choose Hove instead. It's close by and the housing is a fraction cheaper. The only downside to Brighton and Hove is the Nazi run Parking Department.

Eastbourne is in between Brighton and Hastings. Should be cheaper than Brighton. Hastings for me is a real mixture of wonderful history, buildings and stunning landscapes and some not so desirable places to live. I guess every town has it's good and bad areas. Hastings and surrounding towns and villages are great for photography. Brighton is a really buzzing place to live but it is expensive. If you did live in/near Brighton you will be a few miles away from Park Cameras!!
