Has P.C gone to far

Fire bombing Dresden a city of civilians with no military importance would now be seen as a war crime, ok at the time though.

Had the allies lost the war, it would have been a war crime.

The whole point is as far as possible at the time the film was historically pretty accurate , real lancasters , actual footage of the bouncing bombs being tested , the dog existed , it’s name existed ,it was used as the coded word for success of the mission .. let those offended remember if it wasn’t for the likes of guy Gibson and the crews we would possibly be living under the nazis today
. It’s not fictional so should not be altered to appease a few dogooders , very often slang terms used in the context of race ,creed or religion only offend if being used directly against a individual . And if your on the receiving end it’s fairly easy to assess whether it’s meant as a general term or being used to degrade you .. it’s then up to the individual to decide on what action to take .

“A few dogooders”.……..

Somebody call a waaaaaaaaaaambulance! We have a critical case of a white man telling people from other races what is and is not offensive to them nowadays.

I have read your reply even though your on my ignore list , and your assuming Rather a lot without knowing me personally . ??

It sounds like you have been on the receiving end of hate. Sorry to hear that, are you willing to say what it was? (Assuming it was a general term and not being used to degrade you)
Yes to part 1 and then no leave it there

Quite a few programmes from the 60s and 70s are edited. The thing is that the language was commonly used at the time so is representative. The fact is that his dog was called that so is someone really going to be seriously offended by this. Or is this another case of thinking people will be offended by it.

Surprised that the Carry on Films have lasted so long. A lot of sexist and homophobic language and it Carry on Jungle Bernard Bresslaw 'blacked up' but that's what the films were - slapstick farce. Same core characters in different contexts. Still hilarious IMO.

I dislike re-writing history or censorship or applying todays morals/views to stuff that happened years ago.

I agree, although I must admit that I caught a few mins of a Benny Hill show, while waiting for something else to start.
I used to like watching that a few years ago, but now its very dated, and TBH I didn't find it funny in the slightest, I wasn't outraged by the content, it just wasn't funny anymore.

I think some things have aged well, others less so (or in some cases like Hill) it was just basically the same joke on repeat!
