Has my memory card been used? Nikon d90

Hi guys,
I just bought a Nikon D90 (yay) and a Sandisk Extreme video class 10 memory card.
The instructions say "if 'f o r' is displayed in the control panel format the card as described on the following page"

Mine didn't show "f o r", just the the number of photos that can be recorded (2.1k) so I'm assuming it doesnt need formatting. Does that mean I have been sent a used memory card?

I'm very new to all of this, thanks for any help :)
 
I've never had a brand new card display FOR without me selecting to format it manually, so I wouldn't worry about it.

If you are really worried, get some file recovery software and see if you can recover any deleted files on the card.
Even if it Had been used, I still wouldn't worry too much, although I would be annoyed at paying full price for a used item.
 
I've got several Sandisk Extreme Pro's and never seen that display. They always come ready formatted. Unless the packaging was damaged I wouldn't worry about it.
