I think one of the funniest programmes on tv at the moment is, Would i lie to you. I do like Lee Mack. When Not going out first appeared on our tv screens, i thought the writing was very good. But after a couple of seasons and cast changes, it started to lose it's appeal. Now i don't watch it at all. Comedy shows i have never found appealing, is the utter tripe that is American sit coms.

Osmons house of games is funny.
Ranganation

US comedy shows “tripe”? What about Cheers? and Frasier? That’s some of the best comedy writing ever in my book. Even The Simpsons has had some brilliant humour along the way, although it’s not as good as it was. Certainly way better than Mrs Brown, which was funny for about 5 minutes and then kept retreading the same old ground… which is basically old lady swears and says outrageous things. (See also Catherine Tate’s rude granny character.)

I hate to be picky but you do of course know the "old lady" is a man in drag right?

Errr, yes :)

Arthur Lucan aka Old Mother Riley was basically doing the same act decades ago, minus the sweary and crude material of course. Les Dawson did it too, but much better. Nothing new under the sun as they say.

There have been a lot of negatives regarding Mrs Brown's Boys. What do people watch now to get their comedy kicks. What programmes are really funny?
Still Game.
The funniest thing on tv, bar none.

I still watch reruns of TBBT, Frasier, How I met You Mother, Scrubs, and Brooklyn 99...and now I see I'll watch most American TV comedies. Hate these crappy cartoons like American Dad, Family Guy and The Simpsons.

One American comedy program that was really funny, but was so close to the edge that the Americans couldn't handle it and they dropped it after one series, was Dads. Close on it's heels for snowflakes to get offended over was Anger Management with Charlie Sheen.

What’s TBBT?

One of the best comedy series I've ever seen was an American 80's show called "Soap". Which always finished the introduction with "confused? You will be"...

<clicks fingers> and disappears.

I'd forgotten about that one, I watched every episode. Loved the butler.

I wasn’t a fan of most cartoons but I loved king of the hill, I thought that was hilarious.
