The SuperCollapsible Background from photodeals?

I've just taken delivery of one, it says that it's crease resistant but I can't quite see how, looks like the train would be a real b****r to keep the white side clean and keep the folds out.

Just wondering if anyone's used them with any success?

I've just received mine but haven't used it yet so I can't tell you. I'll be interested to hear anyone else's views though!

Have you put it up yet? It took me 10 minutes to fold it back up again!

Yeah I did put it up. I think it's a two man job putting it up and taking it down really! I've got other stuff which folds the same was (softbox etc) so I knew how it was supposed to work... still took a few mins though just because it's so big!

I've got one - keep the train clean by folding away after use and keep hyour dog off it

it's crease resistant 'cos its ployester or some such, works fine

I can put mine up myself but then again I'm 6 foot 3 tall!

Cheers

Do you have problems with the train in the final shots, ie is there a lot of PP involved in getting the wrinkles out?

nope

only PP I did was to boost the contrast with the white background to blow it out a bit (didn't have an extra light on the bg but didn't really need it)

because the train is polyester it doesn't crease so just spend a minute making sure its flat and anything left didn't show up - I'm not at home but will post a pic when I get back so you can see what I did in about 2 minutes from start to finish (putting up, rolling out train, taking pic, loading into PP boosting contrast and saving)

Great stuff, thanks. That's put my mind at ease, the kids will be busy posing for me this evening while I try it out.

How much use has it had? Have had the same concerns as the OP which is why I haven't bought one yet. Also, is the train usable for kids shoots? It says 2.5m on the website, it just looks quite small in the pic

it's not had a lot of use because it's the middle of the wedding season and I'm struggling to fit all those into my life!

But, it stays up in my office/studio 24x7 with the train just rolled up at the bottom - the black train keep the white train clean

as for train size, well it's big enough for me, but then my room is only 12 feet long anyway but it stretches from the bg to my feet

I used it for kids too, and to be honest its fine - my main restrcition as you may guess from above, is how far I can get away from my model so kids are ok, whereas full length adults means a compromise - ie they sit down or I need a wider angle lens - not sure what the issues might be when using it for kids though?

Don't worry about the size of the train, the picture on the website is NOTHING like what it is when you get it, the train is long enough for kids. In fact, it's a lot longer than I'd anticipated!

ha ha, just looked at the pic, no wonder you were all worried! I agree it's nothing like that!!!!!!

I've just had a play with it and I've got untold folds and creases in the train due to my kids moving about on it into different positions. I guess there's a lot of work to be done before I master that one.

Did you tape the trail down?

I was planning on a few bits of gaffa tape along the edges towards the front to keep it taut

I kept is as tight as possible but the two problems I have is that I'm having to lay it on carpet while at home (so I'm going to obviously get problems there) but will also be using it from home to home when I do shoots for other people, so I need a foolproof method of keeping it tight whatever the surface.

One other question, do you lean it up against a wall or have a couple of stands to hold it up?

Just up against the wall for the time being, stays up easily enough.

Right, been snapping away and as the kids are in bed and the wife is out, I've had to get the remote out and use myself as a model, so excuse the ugly bloke! Examples white side and dark side, although when uploaded the lighter side doesn't look as well exposed as it does in Lightroom.

A couple of the better looking members of the family (son & daughter) taken a bit earlier in a rush.

That's the plan, although I'm a bit concerned about the amount of reflection I'll get.

No idea (at all) if this is feasible but could you spray paint one side of it with a slightly matt paint?

That way you could flip it over for reflective shots if you want reflection or use the painted side if not?

I've got something very similar and its a nightmare! Got this up no probs, getting it back down is another issue:gag: Could decapitate someone if you're not careful! :naughty: Needless to say it has stayed erect since I got it!

An odd remark for a Tog, as there is nothing else in the photo, how can you tell?
Look so good I think I will get one be nice if there was other colours as well..

Ops just found the other colours I like this one and its 100 % Heavy duty muslin

The picture of the product on the website, the train on there looks tiny.

They do have other colours as well.

how small are these when they're folded down? any pics? :D

this is what Im looking at getting! Nice to know other people who have got it too :)

velcro ?

How's it going with this background now? You still happy with it?

Yep, still happy, going to get some perspex to try and preserve the train and stop it looking too wrinkled when the kids are on it, that's the only problem I have with it. If it was permanently going to be in my home I'd probably velcro it, but as I'm going house to house it's difficult. However weighting down the edges seems to do a decent enough job.

for the price though it does an excellent job.

Brilliant - cheers! Just ordered one :)

yeh they are fab, I was debating on whether to bother and I really think I will now :)

Ordered one of these and it came today, i'll have to say i'm quite impressed but not sure how comfortable i'd be using it leant against a wall as it's reasonably floppy :)

anyone used a stand with these/got any suggestions?
