Yes
This ebay auction just has stolen/lost goods all over it:

Here

No cables/charger, no manual. Selling for "a friend" so won't know details or info.

Just a heads up....

it's a strange advert all right. Looking at other items link in description takes you to a different ID, hacked maybe??

none of my photography mates have... will check on forums etc

Not box, no charger, no cables, not even bothered to clean the screen... hmmm dodgy as a dodgy thing in dodgy town

youve reported it to ebay?

No - it is just possible the the guys house burnt down and the only thing he saved was the camera. Doubtful but possible.

But very cheap ! I have asked him for details as to why there is no charger/manual and what the serial number is - at least the excuses could be interesting.

Strange there is no tripod as there is a manfrotto tripod piece in the pics?

Is there any way of registering serial numbers online to check in future if gear gets lost/stolen?

Paul

haha..beaten to it...QR plate, thats what it's called!

It looks like its been used on a plastering job. LOL!

Just email the guy and say there appears to be a very distinguished mark on it which is similar to the 5D I owned but whent missing

Why?! Do you think he'll say "ah fair enough, I found it, it must be yours I'll send it to you" ;)

If it's dodgy he'll avoid the serial number question and just pull the ad and try his luck elsewhere.

If I got a message like that I'd report the sender to ebay as a chancer.

Someone in the area go round and see him and make an offer!

Chris

why does it have the AA battery mag and a rechargable though :S surely people would use one or the other...

It isn't a rechargable, it's a flash shoe! Even stranger!!

Is this an Italian lens with it:)

COMES WITH A SIGMA 50MM LENS DG MARCO

i know a fella who left a really good camera in a phonebox in sheffield, i think he said it was a 5d, he told me this last september ya see and my memories not too good...trying to get in touch with him

7 bids, up to £620.. unbelievable.. the number of people who are up for a bit of handling stolen goods :nono: :(

A.

5d2 for 600 quid, meh about stolen, not too fond of the ebay paper trail, cashy money in the pub though....................

Whoever owned it can't have been that serious a photographer with that lens.

If the original owner registered it with Canon when the new owner tries to register it they might be in for a shock.

Matt

shame he will blow his 100% feedback for the sake of helping out his mate.
May be genuine, I hope so.

Just sent this question to seller:
Hi can you include a photo of the base of the camera as this part often gets scratched through placing down on rough surface. Also can you tell me the serial number so i can age the camera.
Cheers
Roy

Be interesting to see if he/she replies!

I am not quite sure why some people here are slating this seller? She (there is an email address in one of her other listings) seems to be quite genuine and seems like she is having a clearout of various things.

Has anyone considered the fact that because she has a very high ebay rating with a 100% positive feedback and very good detailed seller rating, that she may actually be genuine? Can 673 people who have left her positive feedback all be wrong? She is also offering local pick up/collection in a few of her listings, so I doubt that if she was indeed handling stolen goods, she would want to disclose her location.

It may purely be the fact that the camera does indeed belong to her friend, who has asked her to sell it for them given her high ebay rating - the seller herself may not be a photographer, hence not know how to effectively sell a camera, but to acccuse her of of handing stolen/dodgy goods is like saying she is guilty until proven innocent........

I have no association with the seller or know who the hell she is, but I am simply pointing out my views and if I was in the market for a camera, I wouldn't hesitate to bid on this item as she comes across as a good ebayer. Will be very interesting to find out if she does respond to people who have emailed her asking her the various questions.

I would have bought a lens and body cap to make it look at little more honest.

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. :nono:

The alarm bells for me were sounded by the lack of all the accessories that would typically get left at home:

Body cap
Charger
Box
Manuals
Software discs
AV Leads
USB lead
etc
etc

Not one of them is included in the sale. If someone spends £1600+ on a camera they will make sure that they keep these bits and bobs - especially the charger - explicitly excluded in the ebay ad !
