Has anyone heard of a company called HDEF as they seem very competative

If you mean HDEW, then yes lots of positive reviews and satisfied people on here have bought from them.

Also worth looking at Ian (Kerso) on here as he has a very strong following - his new web site is flashcamera.co.uk.
 
Hdew have a lot of good reviews especially on here. Also I can vouch for digital rev too. Kerso (flash camera) is also a good dealer but charges slightly higher but worth it if looking for items with a uk warranty.
 
I've bought a camera and a lens from them no problems. Had a warranty issue with the lens and this was sorted out very rapidly so after-sales service good too.
 
Be aware HDEW are keenly priced because the stock is imported/delivered from the far east. Warranty is dealt with them direct as the UK warranty networks will not touch grey import goods.

Canon will repair lenses bought from them as they provide you with a UK invoice.

Not sure about bodies - I think as Richard says these are dealt with via HDEW.

They have been known to do bodies as well. Canon that is.

Bodies you go through HDEW - they will also offer an extended warranty through a third party (this is free for some of the more expensive bodies).
 
I've bought a Canon 5D2 and 24-105 f4 L kit and a Canon 5D3 body only from Hdew Cameras and I highly recommend them. They do give a 3 year warranty and any work is carried out by Canon approved service centres. Hdew even arranged a RMSD for a saturday at no extra cost because they knew I needed the camera for the next day.

The only other company I use these days is Panamoz, which is a Hong Kong based online company, but also give great service and very good prices and I can highly recommend them as well.
 
HDEW are great but check out the Nikon and Canon cashback offers on at the moment before ordering non-UK items.

Hmm certainly something to think about thats for sure.

But were do you draw the line, One faulty camera in how many that they have sold? I certainly wont be looking over seas after reading all this hassle.
 
Is it just me, or do HDEW sell a really small range of gear? For example, if I look at the Sony cameras section it's empty, and they don't even have a section for Panasonic lenses.
 
HDEW- top company!!!

had a simple and quick pleasurable original purchase from them and unfortunately recieved a lens which had been marked on the lens- i rang them up and visited them yesterday and they replaced with no quibbles at all!! Friendly people that know what they sell well!! i'd recommend them to anyone!
 
Another vote for HDEW here, i bought a camera and lenses, one lens stopped auto focusing suddenly, a friendly and helpful lady at HDEW asked me to post it to their appointed repair firm a (Johnsons of Glasgow) and also pushed the repair for me cos i needed it back quickly, i got it back repaired a week later, a good and friendly service left me very happy. :thumbs: Tonyc.

I think the point is that Canon said the serial number was a fake: the one on the camera label didn't match that in the exif data. There was also mention of a fake filter having being supplied to another customer.
 
HDEW just bought a d7000 last week cheapest place on the planet very friendly
and 3 yr warranty
highly reccomended
