Hi Guys

I was thinking, the only time i have heard of a shutter jamming is when somebody sorted there D50 with out use for two years.

As anybody had a shutter fail on them on a regulary used camera?

If so please post up the make and an approximate shutter count. I am interested.

Cheers Stuart

My First DSLR - A Canon 350D failed (Technically it wasn't really a shutter fail, but the mirror became dislodged, resulting in the shutter not working properly. I bought it second hand, and although very good cosmetic condition I had no idea what the shutter count was before I bought it. I got around 10,000 clicks out of it before it died on Christmas eve 4 years ago. Still got it in the loft, still pondering fixing it.........

Yes, twice.

My 1Dmk2 had about 100k actuations and the shutter failed and got replaced

My 5Dmk1 wasn't a shutter failure as such, it was something to do with magnets needing cleaned, but the shutter was visible in images at a certain shutter speed.

I've had two shutter failures on Canons. First was on a 1D mk2, the second was on a 1D mk2N

I'd guess the first was approx 100k shots the second at least 150k shots. The repairs were approx £250 in both cases, not cheap, but nothing like the cost of replacing the whole camera.
