Yes
I seem to have lost my way a bit :( Although I love my photography, I don't seem to be improving on the 'creativity' side of things.
Why do I not see shots other people see? Why am I in awe of others photos and in despair of my own? Does it improve over time? Or am I just stuck in a rut?

Been there many a time ... Mojo's come and go all the time.. If your in awe of others you need to look at the images and work out why you like them then put your own slant onto the images.. It will come back but you need to get out shooting whatever rocks your boat...

Keep at it .!!!

Regards MD:thumbs:

I know how you feel - i have been in that state for quite a while now !

All you can do is keep getting out there, try something different, or perhaps pick one area to concentrate on and practice on it hard, posting on here as you go for advice and critique. Also try shooting from different viewpoints, angle, positions etc and add some variety.

Good luck !!! :)

I keep doing lots of different things, but I don't seem to be finding my groove :(

Hopefully I'll find inspiration soon...thanks :)

Same here I look at what others shoot and go wow .. I look at mine and hide them away.

Tori

Don't worry, i never have found my Mojo. I'm a real got the gear but no idea.

I've just been to Malta for two weeks and when looking throung some 400 pictures realised they are all just happy snaps. Very dissapointed to the point I'm seriulsy considering another hobby at the moment. Which I might add probably wont happen.

I've been back into photography about 5 years and I'm yet to take a picture I'm truly happy with. Maybe it's because I'm a Virgo and nothing ever seems perfect.

It's probably eloped with mine!

I'm not alone it seems :(

I look through Flickr and am wowed by how creative some people are. I don't want to copy stuff, but when I try to do similar, it's never as good.

I wish I did have the gear :( I went to the seaside yesterday trying to get some shots of some wood on the beach, with slower shutter speeds...too bright. I need an ND filter (Which I don't have)
I went out this morning and took photos in the mist. I may as well have been standing in the shower :( (See below) I don't know what I'm doing wrong, or how to put it right :(

No laughing. I'm trying to be creative, but my creative is well...like a 5 year olds...

Misty morning, either that or my lens was fogged up....:

Pier, very bright day, no ND filter so resorted to processing the bejesus out of it....

I feel your pain, Tori. I've just been diagnosed with post viral chronic fatigue syndrome and fybromyalgia, and everything is an effort, including taking pictures. Just have no enthusiasm for anything.

Just spent an hour setting up a lighting stand and I'm $%#€ing exhausted. I'm trying to set myself a target every day to do something, any bloody thing, but it just ain't happening.

I think you're being a bit hard on yourself Tori, #1 has got a dream-like quality that I think is lovely. (Your logo is drawing the eye away from the main subject though)

Certainly seems to come and go with me. Took the camera out Thursday evening but came back with nothing more than "snapshots" Today although my photos weren't "stunning" I did enjoy myself more.

Weren't Mojo's sweet wrappers changed when we all went PC? maybe that's whats happened to it.

Munch those where Blackjacks not Mojo's LOL

Tori for someone who's strugglung I love number one, tend to agree with Rob about your Logo maybe make it a little smaller.

I think we all suffer at times with doubts about our abilities, and sometimes I think critique helps if it's taken and presented in the right way.

I am quite often in awe at some of the photo's taken and posted on the web, but it gives us something to aspire to. I look and study them, digest their contents and if I feel the need I will go and make my version of them. It's part of a learning experience.

A warm log fire needs logs to burn, I just take photography the same way. Without those photo's that inspire us what do you aspire to ?

You need to read Ken Rockwell's FART article :)

Everyone has off days. Half the time it is just your own state of mind and not necessarily a reflection of the actual photos you have taken.

Taken loads of photos recently. Was quite enthused then found so many had stupid mistakes like wrong DOF, or I'd moved and ruined it or tried to take a moving otter at 300mm at 1/30 and expected it to be sharp. A lot of places you go and see you can always revisit and do again in different weather or with different kit or just again to redo all the shots you weren't happy with the first time.

Sometimes setting daft challenges like finding certain numbers of things or certain colours or certain lines can kick start creativity if you find you are taking lots of the same thing over and over.

Sorry to hear this. I should quit my whining and appreciate the fact I can get out and take photos. I hope you improve soon x

Thanks Rob, it just looks a bit naff to me :( Thanks for the encouragement though :)

Yes, I agree the watermark is a bit much. I'm not sure how to change it, but I'll work on that!

FART? Fart? Can we say that here? FART! It seems we can!!  Well that's cheered me up no end, and I've not even read it yet!!

I think setting challenges could be a good idea! Anyone care to set me one and I'll give it a go? And if anyone else has lost their mojo too, I'll set you a challenge and maybe we'll find it again!

Doog, I've been watching your Flickr, you're not doing so bad!! I like your silver slug very much!!

Thanks Tori, sometimes it just happens (not planned) and other times you'd be as well throwing the camera in the nearest river.:) Like your picture in the forest above, sometimes what looks good to your eye isn't suitable to be captured on camera. You have to remember other senses like smell and touch are coming into play and fooling the mind. It can be hard separating those out to select only what will look good on screen.

We'll all just keep trying eh?;)

I don't know what you are worried about Tori I'm loosing my memory as well as my mojo :)

:D I'm too young to remember mojo's......

tell me about it, lacking motivation and enthusiasm at the moment. i think the last couple of years doing events has burned me out a bit.. :(

:( Hopefully normal service will be resumed as soon as possible!

did you check the sofa - Ive looked in mine and found a sock/ a large amount of fluff/ a polo/ £2.78p/ 1 euro/ a leaky battery and a condom wrapper. Sadly no mojo

Now excuse me Tori!!! Can't believe you say you've lost your mojo! From what I've seen of your pictures they're very good.

We all take pictures that we think aren't any good at the time but when we come back sometime later and look again we think much more positive.

I use to be Auto man but now in to Aperture and Shutter Priority and don't touch Auto at all. I'm learning all the time. Don't always get it right but I see it as a challenge to get it right next time.

Why not try photographing something you don't usually? That should get your creative side going. I'll have to take you to a steam railway!! That should get you thinking!!

Nothing down the back of the sofa...:'(

I'm off to a steam railway on sunday, and on the 16th Clive! Any other ideas? lol
