Second day without the evil fags, got up to forty a day! so selfish of me! we really cant afford for me to smoke at all.

I took myself off to hebden bridge thursday evening to have accupunture. Morningside has anyone else been? would love some support and give others support in my quest.
I will have a look for some websites for giving up maybe there are forums out there.

Hi
well done on quiting, its not easy i know, i have been quit now 2 years 9 months. I used NRT to help me, first you got to get rid of the habit, then the nicotine, so the Nrt worked for me, took about month to six weeks to rid of habit, then i just reduced the Gum/patches over a month or 2, i still have some about cos some times it comes back, not so hard but it can for some of us. Every one is different in the quit, what will work for some, wont for others. But you have made the right choice. Here is a link to the quit web site i used, still do now and again. some good help there.

I`m gonna have to stop, though I smoke rollies so cost is not that great, its the bloody damage i`m doing to myself....:bang:

My partner gave up 18 months ago today and I gave up 18 months ago next Saturday. It was probably about the 50th attempt for me. We were going through 120+ a day between us which is bloody ridiculous at today's prices.

She stopped as she had a really bad chest cold that nearly hospitalised her and I was lucky enough to care enough that I stopped as I felt it was unfair to carry on.

We've certainly noticed the difference health wise on chest infections but have slammed weight on like it's going out of fashion.

its the slamming of weight on that scares me! Im already overweight, but my doc says if i dont give up I wont need to worry about the weight very scary!

Well done you, I have never smoked, so I cant imagine how hard it is.

My dad had a heart attack after smoking 20+ a day, he soon cut down to about 5 a day, but is back up to 15 :(:(

My wife gave up 7 months ago due to illness. This week she's starting pinching an odd one of mine. I think i'll not be far behind you.

Well done keep it up its worth it. I smoked from when i was 11 till i was 46 tried and failed loads of times but thats because i still sat with smokers and also had dinner etc. Last time i sat with non smokers for dinner never went outside with mates while they had a smoke and got loads of support off the non smokers. It paid off i hope you to are successful.
P.S If you try patches put them on in daylight i never and for a week i was putting on wifes HRT ones kept me intouch with my feminine side though .Good Luck again, all here on forum will support

Do you think the smoking ban has made a few people try to give up? :)

It's amazing how quick the cash adds up

Gave up 8 years ago...went from 20/25 a day to zero the next day, literally....

Went out on a mountain bike (which I no longer have), came back, had shower then went to the fridge for a yoghurt and fruit...became a routine and I soon forgot about the fags.

First week was the worst, after that it was a breeze.

Good luck
