Has anyone bought gear from these guys?

Bargepole, touch, not.

(A) Horribly expensive
(B) No credit cards

Hi Stewart,

Thanks for the post, price wise I can't find anyone cheaper than GMP, how come you say expensive?
A D3 with 24-70 and 70-200 is roughly £4700 from GMP, all other places closer to 5K and over. If you know anyone who can do it cheaper and offer EU/UK warranty with the option of extended warranty or MACK warranty, they most certainly will have sale come August/September.

In Finland, the preferred means of transaction is always bank transfer, it's free, unlike the UK and very safe. The bank account global media use in Finland is Nordea , a Finnish bank, my bank actually which makes things easier.
Despite the fact I live in Finland, my folks live in Brum so I shop about pretty much anyplace that supplies gear with EU/Uk warranties, I just look for good prices and do my research about the place first.
I would be interested to hear your thoughts mate.

The point is that they are London based [apparently, and also NZ] but do not accept credit card payments [standard UK method due to the extra insurance your credit card company provide even if bank transfer is preferred in Finland], nor do they allow collection from warehouse/offices, nor any kind of obvious address for those offices. Take the risk if you wish, but I would be on the barge and pole side of the fence quite frankly. They may be a very good and perfectly legitimate company, but on the surface of it, looks dodgy.

Thanks for the pointers, this is why I'm asking really, If I can't find any success stories or folk who've used them before then I'll cross em off the potential places list, GMP only £300 cheaper than Park Camera's, I don't wish to throw 300 nicker away but I certainly don't want to take too much of risk either! Not with that kind of an investment.
thanks for your thoughts

Sorry, it was the Sigma 70-200mm rightenough... thought I had selected Nikon in the search filter. The Nikon is about £1150. Long day at work lol...:(

Cheers for the effort though mate.
I'm looking for the D3 and 2 lenses though, 70-200 and a 24-70, park cameras will do all 3 for approx £4900.
I'm still looking for cheaper! :suspect:

you'll have a very tough time finding somewhere with a 70-200 in stock. real bad shortage a the moment, which is worth considering.

They're expensive because the prices they quote DO NOT INCLUDE VAT.

Try putting those items in the basket on their site. Total including VAT: £5,745.75.

If other places are "close to £5k and over", I'd say £5745 is horribly expensive.

The actual example I looked at: Canon EF 100-400mm L IS. I have ten of these and I usually pay £900-£950. On their web site: £1100+VAT=£1292. Horrible!

The penny has dropped, thanks Stewart, I hadn't noticed the exclusion if VAT! Bargepole, touch, I won't.

See THIS and THIS for more info.

Looks like they are run by a New Zealand registered company ?? - Apparently they threaten to sue (or worse!) if you post negative comments about them ???

I'd be running away from these guys.

Have you checked HERE ?
