harrison ford seriously hurt in plane crash

Normally when you hear the words "plane crash", you think sudden death. Looks like he did a pretty good job getting that plane down considering it had problems, clipped a tree and no landing gear down.

There is a heavy emphasis during flight training around "emergency" procedures. For this sort of thing to actually happen is rare.

"Harrison was flying a WW2 vintage plane today which had engine trouble upon takeoff," Ina Treciokas said. "He had no other choice but to make an emergency landing, which he did safely."

Clearly he was still in control as he put it down the middle of the fairway. Seems like a lot of fuss about not a lot of news really.

It was one of these things, which sound like a bag of spanners in a washing machine at the best of times.

Its a primary trainer, so designed to be abused, hence the complicated undercarriage.

As Brain says, its a lot of drama about very little.

Hope it did not interrupt anyone's round of golf.

He crash landed on a Californian golf course on a Thursday afternoon. Two doctors were able to attend to him immediately!

Good sort of thing to know for a PPL! :D

Next time you're told that your surgeon is on a course (GPs are usually too busy), ask the receptionist which one.

Whats that all about?

Hope he is ok he us a classic icon of acting for me and still going strong

I like his acting, the way it was reported on the BBC News, you think the end of the world had happen, expert on this and that came to put their point of view, even those in the end it was just a few bump & busies.
As i say

you said "So What" that to me means you don't care, its the kind of comment which serves no purpose or just thrown in to anatagonise.

Well, okay, but I'm sure engine failure was dramatic enough for him, even if some people don't think the story is very newsworthy. I'm glad he wasn't too badly hurt.

liked him in Enders Game :-)

Didn't he crash land in Seven Days and Seven Nights? Maybe he should stick to flying spaceships :cautious:

From what I've read on another forum (warbird one), he did a very good job getting it down on the golf course as he had an engine failure after take off and could not make it back to the runway. The area is surrounded by houses also. Good bit of piloting!

Are we all really surprised Harrison Ford is a decent pilot? I'm fairly sure I've seen film of him flying harder stuff.

Yeah, I imagine that thing was a piece of p*** compared to getting the 'Falcon through an asteroid field after coming out of hyper-drive

Glad he's not too badly hurt - it means I can lol at that without feeling too guilty!

jeez he flew the starship enterprise through meteor fields..

Man up

We all know this is the THIRD time he's crashed, right (2 planes, 1 helicopter).

I can't imagine he has much of a non claims bonus left.

Don't know where the other aeroplane he crashed came from but the helicopter and the recent 'plane were from the same company... [/conspiracy...]
