I want to replace the 500GB 5400 drive in my MPB with a 1TB drive as I would like to create a windows bootcamp partition but that would leave me short on space.

Hard drives confuse the heck out of me and I have no idea what I am looking for beyond the size rpm and size.

On a previous laptop I went with a WD black 7200 but is this really needed? I was thinking a WD blue 1TB 5200rpm would be cheaper and also use less juice/generate less heat?

Also thoughts on transferring the data would be appreciated, clean install then copy, clean install time machine restore or cloneing have all come to mind. (edit: clomign looks like a simple job as I have a caddy I can use: http://forums.crucial.com/t5/Solid-...ur-old-hard-drive-to-your-SSD-Mac/ta-p/112072)

I did see a 1tb hybrid at a very reasonable price in maplins, thing it was a seagate one

A hybrid drive adds about 50% to the cost, £61 for a WD blue vs £91 for a seagate hybrid.

It's only £30 I know but I wonder how much I'd benefit seeing as it would only boost speed on a few frequently used files up to 8GB. In fact in a dual boot it would probably be both OSs that would use most/all the cache anyway (not a bad thing mind if I end up swapping a lot)
