Seems like my hard drive has died on my Acer Aspire 5732Z - it will not load windows at all in any mode, way shape or form :dummy: googling seems to throw back hard drive.

So, people that are Essex based, do you know roughly how much it would cost to replace the H/D for me? in work so cannot phone round as they seem to be 08 .. lotsa money number.

When you say replace, what cost are you after - the HDD cost on it's own, HDD + someone to put it in for you, HDD + put it in + install Windows, HDD install + attempt data recovery from old drive.

Those are the in increasing cost, starting at around £60 for a new HDD....

Price for someone to take it, replace it and put windows back onto it.

No idea what that's likely to be. A small computer repairer ould probably be your best bet. Just don't let them charge more than about £60 for the disk...

£60 for a 500gb disk + the labour and time to fit the disk and reinstall windows.

Have you tried the hidden restore partition? I think you press ALT + F10 on boot to access it. From there you might be able to restore your windows without replacing the drive (in case it's not actually faulty).

I will try that when I get home :)
