Hi Guys,

Could anybody tell me if there is a way to add an extra level of protection against hard drive formatting. I was trying to format some old external drives the other day and accidentally formatted my main external hard drive. This was of course backed up, but i wish to stop this in the future with something like a password or similar.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Before formatting, unplug all extra external & internal drives. Particularly useful in unfamiliar OS's which do not make drive identification easy, or batch formatting operations.
Slow down and read and check things 5 times over - identifying which drives are live in your format tool and which can be formatted. Sounds simple, but works.

If all you've done is format, you can usually recover from that with the correct software...
