Revisited Harbertonford village again to try out some Rollei Retro 80S, again developed in Caffenol CL (my now goto Developer with Semi-Stand technique).

Again, using my Fuji GX680 this time with a 125mm Fujinon lens at f22 again with a Yellow Filter.

What has astounded me is the amount of detail this film can hold. Whilst pictorially it is very good, when I started looking at the shadow detail at 100% I could see there was more than just some blocked up dark tones, once I had selected my shadow areas at 100% I then lifted the exposure by 2.5 stops to see what was actually there, what can I say, it really surprised me.

It was also good to see the resolving power of the lens/film, again when searching at 100% I found these two little birdies sitting in a tree, I don't know if they are Peter & Paul but they didn't fly away.

linking shot 1- nicely composed

the latter 3 dont appeal to me much im afraid...

Thanks for your input Terry, the latter 3 are only to show the characteristics of the film, they were not meant to be images in their own right.

Caffenol aye? I souped a roll of this in Rodinal for 14 minutes (i think, off the top of my head) going by what i read on the DB. Then it came out almost completely underdeveloped. So either they don't play nice or nobody has any idea about the times.

I still have another roll, might have to mix some Caffenol up rather than just risk it and guess with Rodinal. Thanks :)

Stunning work on the shot and the development!

love the way the graves infront of each window mirror the shape of each other and lead the eye from each side up to the spire. I may have been tempted to keep the image a little softer through less sharpening and a little less contrast although that's completely personal preference.

I'm really tempted to make my next batch of ilfosol 3 at the weaker concentration and calm down my agitation to just the little spinner that came with my dev tank.

Thanks Tim, the contrast is what it is I'm afraid, I did lower the contrast to -50 in CS5 but this was the result of that. Perhaps a little less development may help with this film, but the big problem and also indicated by Superewza above is that there is not a lot of information around about it.

If scanning 120 size then you really need AN glass, it has a wickedly serious curl.
