Hanging pictures on a slanting wall?

Do I use this gadget to help me hang pictures on a wall running by the staircase or is there something else?

If the wall's wonky I've always hung by eye. Couple of times I used a spirit level and it looked awful. Get some help and go with the line of the ceiling.....

I use one of those little hotshoe mounting levels to get the pictures on the wall straight. My shoulder does a good job of making them wonky again...

yoby is right, use your eye, if it looks right it's fine, if not then adjust it.
