Greetings folks, your local village idiot here with a question!

I am thinking of purchasing one of the Huey monitor calibration devices.

My thicko question is do you have to leave it over the monitor all the time to take account of different light conditions? Do they work ok with Windows Vista?

I'll keep my dunces cap on!!!

Hi North,

I am thinking of purchasing one of the Huey monitor calibration devices.

Are you a pro into print pre-production on a daily basis? Then you might need that level of calibration. Otherwise it's a waste of your money.

Do they work ok with Windows Vista?

What does?

Have fun!

You fix it to the monitor to calibrate, then if you wish, you can leave it near the monitor (ie beside or below) so that it can adjust the display as the light changes..
I have the basic model, and am lending it to a TP member, but if you can wait and want to try before you buy, the let me know..

Just checked the Colour Confidence web site. Spec states they are compatible with Windows XP & Vista.

If you want to double check give CC a ring, I've used them in the past, found them very helpful and they know colour management , cos it's their business.

Cheers Steve! Was that trying it out in Spain?!!!!

It's difficult decision. Will it make much difference. I know some people swear by them others don't see the point.

Calibrating and profiling you monitor will make a real difference. Generally uncaled monitors are very blue with their white point at about 9000K. You really need it down around 6500K.

Chances are the brightness is way to high as is the contrast.

As to the value of calibrating you monitor only you can decide. I've used calibrated monitors ( and printers for that matter) for over 10 years and wouldn't dream of changing.

If nothing else it's peace of mind, and the procedure is dead simple, the software does all the hard work.

If Stevinspain will lend you his brilliant you can see how easy it is. Remember Displays change over time so you'll need to repeat the procedure every so often. Some calibration software will remind you when it's time usually every month.

i bought my heuy on thrusday (and already done 6 monitors lol)

just keep it in the holder at the side of the monitor now and have it set to the continual check option
