Planning to go on family holiday in Aug '18 and don't wish to lug around multiple lenses and a body with 2x kids enough stuff in the packed bags, Would anyone recommend a camera such as this or something similar on these lines? Doesn't have to be Canon though.

Cheers

As a single "body and lens" solution, bridges are hard to beat. Most of 'em do a reasonable job but are slightly limited when compared to DSLRs and CSCs. There are a few more compact cameras that don't have the extra zoom range but are more... compact than bridge cameras if space is a problem.

Another option could be your current DSLR/CSC and a superzoom (18-300 or similar) lens. Not as compact as a bridge but generally better quality (if the lens is reasonable!)

I had the same dilemma, looked at options like the Panasonic FZ1000 and 2000 and ended up going for an Olympus OMD EM1 with a 14-150 zoom - cost was much the same as a decent bridge was going to cost, but with a larger sensor so hopefully better quality and having had one before it didn't take long for it to feel familiar..

There are lots of small APSC sensor cameras out there from Fujifilm, Olympus, Sony A6300 or A6500 or even the canon M50.
All small, all have kit lens and all have the option off putting something bigger on in the future.
IMO if I was buying it would be Fujifilm XT 20 or the Sony A6500 as both will do good still and video.

I recently bought a used xe2 and the cheaper 16-50 kit lens . For a family camera I think it's the best bang for buck setup you can get

I've just Googled the SX430 and it seems to be a small sensor superzoom costing about £150.

For days out and holidays when I don't want to use a big camera I got a Panasonic TZ100 which has a 1" sensor and a 25-250mm zoom. It costs a lot more than £150 though.

Depends on what is important to you. Zoom could be useful but there would potentially be a downside in terms of low light performance and general IQ as the sensor is not going to be as good as a dslr or the lens quality.

You could simply take the dslr and 1/2 primes, or as others have said, Fuji XE/XT range. Also a Fuji X100 variant - I took one to Orlanda and Sth Carolina and while at times it was frustrating having a fixed 35mm lens it gives great IQ and don't recall missing out on wider or longer.

Don’t know if I have misunderstood but I can advise on the travelling with the 70D. I have the Canon 70d and have done 2 holidays in India in the last 2 years with it which involved trains, boats, planes and cars plus various other trips abroad. No kids but travelling with husband was bad enough. 1st time to India I took 2 lenses in an over the body camera bag just big enough to carry the body and 2 lenses (50mm prime and 10-18 mm.). Then this year I added a 3rd lens but got round the carrying problem by getting a soft padded cover for the 50mm prime. It stowed in the bottom of my smallback pack type bag I was using for passports, money etc on the journeys and it could be clipped to the side of the camera bag when we were out and about. It got through security and airlines no bother.
