I just read this post:
http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=194201
..and it got me thinking about my own back up system, which is simply to let Lightroom make them every time I start the application. I have 2 internal drives so I have split the actual photo's and the backups over 2 drives as a further level of security. I am now going to make some backups to DVD in addition to the Lightroom backups. There are much better systems than this, but I am happy that this covers my own risk (as an amateur hobbyist with <7,000 photo's - most of them rubbish
).
There must be people out there who either don't really understand how to effectively make regular backups, or who simply don't have the spare time to plan/learn a system. Are you willing to own up?
This is a potentially very serious situation that you find yourself in so unless you are completely
you need to take a little time to understand some of the measures you can take to protect all of your hard work.
If you have developed a really effective and easy to implement backup system, why not share this with the rest of the TP community. We all need to protect as best we can those kilo/mega/giga/tera bytes that we all spend so much time discussing here.
