How many people use one ? specifically the herringbone ones ?

When I had the standard Canon neck strap I used to wrap it around my wrist, I didn't like carrying the camera around my neck, the strap was uncomfortable and the camera would bounce around.

I've got an optech neck strap now and its much more comfortable to wear, but I don't always want to wear it around my neck.

I've never really seen any hand strap that look half decent, but I found this "Herringbone" one on POTN.

There are 2 versions, one comes with a base plate for those who don't use a grip, the other version is for gripped cameras that have a lower loop.

From what i can see the quality is pretty high, theres a range of colours and stitching colours available.
You can still attached a neck strap too as there is a fitting with a double loop.

Just wondered if anyone had used one and had any views.

I have a Herringbone Heritage (black with red stitching) hand strap on my gripped 5D and I am very happy with it. The quality is very good and worth the money, and it looks much better than the Canon E1 hand strap. The Canon E1 is slightly more comfortable due to being bigger (I have one on my gripped 40D) but it isn't as good quality as the Herringbone. Hope this helps!

I've looked at those Herringbone jobbies and they certainly seem very nice. And I used to use a hand strap a lot with film cameras.

But then these sling straps came along, Black Rapid etc, and I got one of those and have never looked back. Best strap I've ever used by miles, and I'm not the only one to think so. There are several threads about them if you search.

I've had no experience with hand straps on DSLR's, although I would like to try one for a while. just dont want to buy one and find out its not for me. Last thing I used a hand strap on was the wifes video camera which is pretty standard on them. Getting a grip for my 7D soon so might try and borrow one for a trial period on that.

I use a Nikon AH-4 on my gripped D700 and love it (had the AH-4 a couple of years now & was used on a couple of bodies) althou its the mk1 version (the expensive one) there are a couple more a MKII & a MKIII both these can be found on ebay at about £12...

But then again you've a Canon & would you want a Nikon hand strap attached

Althou you cant really see the Nikon logo on it unless your close up to it...

Nikon ah4 stays on my camera and I attach black rapid for long hauls. I'm pretty happy with the combo
