Hand held Nikon 7200

I take images at a local fell/trail race, nine in the series to be precise. Want to run them this year AND take a few snaps along the way. Any advice on those "straps" they charge around £50 for to enable you to "fix" the camera close to your hand. Or does anyone have a Heath Robinson solution?

Any GoPro would be far more suitable for this type of stuff surely ?

@Snapper67 Not for what I want to do. Thanks anyway. It starts late evening and the light is usually poor early and late season.
