Not something that will ring bells with the younger generation, but for anyone who remembers the comic genius Tony Hancock I suggest you dig out the episode "The Photographer" and indulge yourself in 30 minutes of some of the funniest photography related comedy you'll hear in a long time.

Although recorded decades ago so much of it still relates to photography of today, especially the costs and how to earn from it.

LOL...

Great stuff, I had almost forgotten about that one, and just in case anybody wants to see it - here you go.

LOL, great minds.

my mum tried to make me and my dad wattch some film of his where he was a waiter or servent... we sat there while my mm was in stiches we just sat there didnt find him funny :S but my mum loves his comedy

Bit like WTD:
Hancock: You're a good subject, you know: craggy old face, all the lines and bumps and scars and ...
Sid: I thought you were going to touch all that out!
Hancock: Not all of it, we've got to leave some of it in, this is a character study, not an advert for ointment.

Hancock's original camera is a Paget and Anderson Mark VII Hand-cranking and Bulb Exposure Image Reproducer.

cheers for the posts folks, especially the clip. What i would say is a 5 minute clip can't convey the whole show. if you can find it all take the time to watch it all...

Just about the best laugh I have ever had on this forum Jon.:lol::lol:
A good reminder of real comedy, I'm going to have to add that and his other stuff to my comedy collection.

Thanks

Haha brilliant :D love the old films. I've got several Marx Brothers films at home somewhere on VHS.

I'd forgotten about that one :) TH was a genius...such a waste :(

No doubt his comic talents were impressive but I think Galton & Simpson added hugely to his career, perhaps enough to say that without them he might not have enjoyed the success he did. Throw in some great supporting cast such as sid james, ken williams, and bill kerr and you can see why his shows were so popular - much like OFAH in the 80's and 90's - all down to a great team.

Was listening to Galton & Simpson being interviewed on Radio 2 yesterday afternoon. What a writing talent they were. I agree, Hancock was excellent but, like all comedians, nothing without the talents of the writers behind him.

You only have to see a few minutes of Jimmy Nail in Parents of the Band to see how important it is to have a good comedy script writer, not that he was ever a great comedy actor but this series in my opinion is doing him no favours

Never hear of Parents of the Band, is it new?
