Hamilton stripped of Oz GP points

I am just curious ... what is it that made the McLaren team lie? Did they not realise that they would be investigated and the audio come out in the enquiry .. or am I missing something?

from what i can see they (by slowing down and letting trulli past) effectively 'gifted' the position to trulli, they lied in an attempt to cover up that they let trulli past on purpose to try to regain the place (and thus points) that they gave away.

maybe that wasnt their first lie and they thought they will get away with this one as well ?

Oh, I am 101% certain this isn't the first time they've lied .. and I don't trust them with a dog'd fart (excuse my language ... sorry). Industrial espionage is a big business and they were cought red-handed just 'round the corner! Makes me question their business ethics.

But in this case, they clearly lied in an investigation when they knew all too well that the recordings would smoke them out .. so why on Earth did they lie?

3rd place vs. 4th place .. at the begining of the season isn't that big a deal .. especially when the possibly consequences are being pulled off the season!

That's another thing .. why the hell did he slow down to let Trulli pass? What were they thinking?

Obviously they've had sniffed too much of that stuff they pump in the car .. either that, or too much glue in their offices.

Mass Confusion...

In the words of Martin Whitmarsh, lets forget about it and move onto Malaysia :D

I've just realised I'm off to Malaysia for a week - starting tomorrow
well I knew I was going but hadn't realised it's F1 on Sunday

Is it worth the squillions they charge just to sit on the hill or am I better off watching on the TV like everyone else???

When the final safety car session started Trulli was 3rd and Hamilton was 4th. After a few laps Trulli took an unexpected detour onto the grass and Hamilton was forced to pass him. Hamilton was then instructed by his team to let Trulli regain 3rd as no overtaking is allowed under safety car conditions.

The only fly in the oitment is that if a car can't maintain it's position behind the safety car for any reason then it can be legitimately passed. The people advising Hamilton had a brainfart and forgot this, so advised him to let Trulli past because they feared a penalty for passing under a yellow flag/safety car conditions.

Then they lied about it to try to cover their mistake.

Years ago I used to follow F1 religiously .. and made every effort to attend as many as I could. Well worth it, if only to hear the screams of the engines.

So, my input on this ... pay up .. go and live the experience. It's not as great as Monaco, there you can be up to a couple of meters away from the cars ... but still worth it.

:) Thank you ... and I thought I had it wrong! I thought that somehow there was something that I missed in the whole fiasco.

cheers Wail!

Never mind all that...what I wnt to know is.....How is Piquet still in F1??!?!?!?!?! He's RUBBISH!!!!

Oh dear, Mclearn have been summoned to the World Motorsport council on the 29, for breech of the same rule that got them kicked out of the manufator's title a couple years back. YThe FIA statement is pretty damming to. Fingers crossed the team isnt excluded, would help to ruin the sport if they where.

Here's a puzzling thing that hasn't been detected by too many people (as far as I know). Why is it that whenever McLaren have been in the dock in recent years, Anthony Hamilton is involved in discussions with Max Mosley BEFORE the team are called to account??? He started the whole "team order" issue in Monaco 2007, attempted to report McLaren to the stewards in Hungary 2007, and is now liaising with Max Mosley prior to McLaren being called up before the FIA again. I get the feeling that Anthony Hamilton is the one hellbent on destroying McLaren and is doing it from the inside.

Still, McLaren can rest easy at night. The prosecutor, judge, jury and executioner at the FIA is that fine upstanding beacon of moral integrity, honesty and all-round McLaren fanboy called Spanky Mosley... ahhh. McLaren's stuffed aren't they.:shrug:

Oh some-one else on my lines of thinking there. Yeah i think your kinda right, in that Anthony Hamilton does seam to started alot of these things off, but i dont believe his intentions where hell bent on ditroying Mclaren origianl. More looking after his sons best interst, in making sure there where no team orders to prevent him wining taken Alonso's credentails into account.

This time around i do believe it could be to destroy Mclaren as they have currently not got the fastest car this year, so maybe looking at a way to terminate his contract early and depart to another, Say Brawn GP or Williams if they stay at the top or possibly Ferrari as they will most likely have the biggest budget next year.

I am not Mclarens biggest fan but based on past history it doesnt look good for them i am affraid.

Isn't it amazing how quickly the kangaroo court can be assembled when there's some mclaren bashing to be done, yet it takes them weeks to organise a hearing that may finally resolve the diffuser issue that could affect so many teams - not to mention results.

I do kinda agree on that one although this is the World motorsport council hearing not the FIA, but that diffeser thing should have been sorted now, either close the loophole (which there is in terms of what the spirit of the laws intention, as Brawn pointed out last year) or leave be. If changing the rules to rid the loophole fine but donot disqual the drivers from the last couple of rounds.
