Halloween oh yeah

Dressing up and going door to door with a joke/trick is not an import. Saying "trick or treat" is though.

The fecking joke is on me after they try the chilli filled donuts, and laxative chocolate.

So, all year you warn Kids not to talk to Strangers and 1 night of the year you send them out to Knock on Doors after Dark.!!!!

I was there with them with my scythe.

Sometimes I feel like I'm living in a different UK. Why all this unplugging if door bells, switching off lights etc. it's simple in our area. If there is a pumpkin alight by the door or gate of the drive way then it's a sign that trick or treat is welcome. If not, then we respect that.

You're lucky. Here people respect nothing and ring bells regardless

It was like that here. We've not had time this year so had no Pumpkin or other Halloween paraphernalia and we didn't have a single knock all night.

yep same here!

Phew not that bad then :)

First time ever, no knocks on the door last night. Plenty of people out and about though.

If only!!! The only pumpkins we have are for eating. Shame that most of the ones available at this time of year taste of somewhere between s*d and bu99er all!

Actually, we only had one knock on the door last night - well, early evening. A little witch who didn't say "Trick or Treat", just asked politely for some sweeties or she'd do a spell on us! If she could have reached the doorbell, she'd have used it but she was too short. (Mum was at the end of the drive supervising.)

Cost me a whole £2 last night:mad:

And that is fair enough
But as others said, there are some of us who would rather not get involved with the
begging with menaces,
you ask them for the "trick" and they just stand there looking stupid.
usually with a hoodie pulled up over their heads.

Haha my tricks caused for a few screams last night. I agree that they should be prepared to do a trick.

A bit like with penny for Guy. They should make an effort.

Oops didn't quite mean it like that [emoji2]

The dark glasses, hat and rain coat avatar is not helping your case here Jp :D

If it were that straightforward then I wouldn't need to unplug the bell.

To be fair I live in a cul-de-sac renowned locally for being full of OAPs, so even without the above measures it's pretty quiet
It's one of the reasons this house was chosen!

Just hoping the feral kids don't work out how to open letterboxes to inform you of their limited vocabulary or to hurl pumpkins against your walls

Couldn't agree more after a response to "Why can't children walk to school?"
"Don't you realise there are perverts out there"

And not just one night. Next month the carol singers will be out

And add that shopkeepers have been asked not to sell flour or eggs to children in the run up to Halloween and my local paper has included a notice to fix to your frount door requesting no trick or treat here. The aforementioned pumpkin incident happened to an elderly lady, the incident scared her

It seems we have forgotten our own tradition of All Hallows Eve with the appointment of the Lord of Misrule through Christmas and the dark winter montha
