For those in the Merseyside area (there are 1 or 2 I think
) there is the annual Halloween Lantern Carnival in Sefton Park, Liverpool on Wednesday 31st October at 6.30pm. I've been the last couple of years, and it's been a great event, and one that always surprises.
There is a procession through the park with of people with their lanterns, with the odd musica group in the middle. They had actors at the side of the paths doing various unusual things, and paper lantern animals dotted about last year. They normally have some sort of display at the end of the procession, but they don't tell anyone what's going on, so almost anything can happen.
For those that have been before, through the park has changed this year, and it starts at the car park beside the lake.
This chap has been the last couple of years, and will probably be back again.
He made my friends little girl burst into tears when it came towards her. Very funny.
The site for the company who run the event, and a map of the route can be found here.
The site also has some pics from previous years.
Worth a trip if you're in the area.
