Halina 500 help

Sooooo.... the minty looking Halina 500 I got for as a charity shop bargain doesn't seem to work!

I've stuck a new battery in - but the red flag pops up and the shutter won't fire. I've pointed it at a light bulb and moved down to shadows and clicked everything in between - nowt!

It fires if I stick it in flash mode (Select an aperture rather than "A") on the lens - and the shutter then fires, no red flag. Exposure is supposed to work like the Olympus trip 35. "A" for metered natural light and manual aperture for flash.

Any clues? Meter fubar perhaps?

Can't help you, but my Halina 600 is in exactly the same situation.
 
No help out there?
 
Hate to say it but the selenium cell may be done in that case it's probably manual only.
 
Thanks for the input - that's what I feared. Seemed to work for a few clicks though - maybe a swan song?
