Half of the files on a memory card are unreadable.

I have just tried to import into Lightroom some files today that were shot on my GX20 (K20D) in DNG RAW format. The first 100 or so are fine but the second 100 or so will not import (same memory card) - there is no preview available for the files and when I try to import them it says "this file seems to be unsupported or damaged"

Photoshop will not open them either and PhotoMe cannot read the EXIF.

The camera previews them fine on its screen.

Any ideas please?

You don't say how you are transfering the files or what type/make of card?

Is the file that the camera uses as it's preview a seperate one to the full RAW file?

Did you remove the card from the camera or transfer the files via a cable connected from the camera to the PC?

Have you tried importing them into the computer only first as a file, and from there into the editing suite? at least opening up that file on your computer even though you can,t read them you can tell how many have transferred onto the computer by counting.

There are several RAW/Jpeg conversion sites with free download which may help save some of those you can't access

Yes mate - I have tried that. I am currently looking for DNG recovery software. The files are there and show as 23mb each and the JPG preview within them works so hopefully at the very least I can strip this our of the RAW file, I just haven't found out how to do it yet. :shake:

Does your camera allow you to shoot in different aspect ratios? I know my old Lumix buggered up files in RAW that were shot at a 1:1 aspect ratio after they introduced the feature through a firmware update.
