I got a film back today and its very good but
5 frames are only half exposed bang in the midle.
i was using On1 N.
the rest of the photo are perfect.
any idea what he could be, i thought of worn seals
If you put a photo of the negatives or a scan up it might be easier to diagnose![]()
The sync speed for flash was set wrong so only half the neg was exposed.
I think you got it right, now you mention it ,i ave that problem in the past with a leica who didn"t like shooting above 2000I'm guessing those photos were taken at a shutter speed of 1/1000s? If so, it may be a dragging shutter (the second curtain isn't moving fast enough).
To confirm, you can shoot a few test exposures on your next roll. If the problematic speed is 1/1000s, try the faster speeds from say 1/125s up to 1/1000s (adjusting aperture accordingly to get an equal exposure)and seeing the effect.
In cameras with slow second curtains, the effect is often visible in the second fastest shutter speed as well (in the case of your OM1, 1/500s).
If it does look like that is the case, you can either:
1) ignore it and try and shoot without using the top speeds - 1/1000s can be useful though
2) get it serviced
Depends how much you think it might bother you - you used the 1/1000s shutter speed for a quarter of your shots on the roll.
It might be worth getting a CLA so you can get a conversion to use 1.5V batteries as well.
Do you know were i can do the?

That is one h**l of a bargain imo
I've removed the disrespectful post and comments around it. I'm sure Fred's English is better than most of our members French. Welcome to TP.
It's gone as per above hence you can't see it......
Strange how the fault often affects only one or two speeds and not all.
Like FC2 mentioned, the cameras can still be used if the "problem speeds" are avoided....a little frustrating at times though.
I guess now you've got a couple more OM1s, you might be able to avoid the CLA on the first? Unless it has some sentimental value?
Ok...I hope it wasn't brought about by anything I posted.
Back onto the original topic.....lagging curtain shutters can be a pain....I have more than one camera with this issue but not financially viable to have repaired.

Try asking around for repair estimates, some places charge wildly more than others for camera repairs, one place wanted £65 to service my Spotmatic F (for the same problem as yours incidentally) yet I was able to get it done for £45 (plus return postage) by Miles Whitehead and the servicing was of excellent quality. You might want to try him as I imagine the price would be very similar for an OM1.
