Can I use my hahnel wireless triggers to fire off studio lights wirelessly? I am just starting out with the studio lights byte i would rather not have to use a cable, it's too restricting. Any help would be much appreciated.

Graham

Hi Graham,

If your studio lights have some kind of input connector, usually a mini or standard jack plug and your Hahnel receiver has an output socket, probably a mini jack plug, all you need to do is attach it to one of the lights with a suitable cable (one might have come with your triggers or you will have to buy one). Then, presuming your lights have them, activate the optical slave cells. Now, fit the Hahnel transmitter to your hotshoe, switch everything on and take a picture; the transmitter will trigger the receiver activating the light it is attached to and the flash from that will trigger the other lights via their optical slave cells.

Hope that makes sense!

Thank you, I will try and get the lights out this weekend and give it a try. Your advice has been a real help and I'm pretty sure I understand everything you have put down. Thank you so much.

How did you get on with your trigger and lights Graham?

With the right leads yes, i have the same transceivers.
I like the diy route but here there was no possible way.
You need the correct connectors to go from receiver to monoblock. The jack that plugs into the receiver is smaller than standard headphones jacks.

I had to get a cable but wasn't expensive at all. Thank you for all help people :) xx
