Just wondering if anyone has used one with the d7000? Are they worth the money? Heard mixed reviews...
Is it worth the money over a wired remote? In my opinion, yes it is

The moral of this story is once you've put the jack plug in the head unit leave it in there (there's no real need to take it back out anyway). Constant plugging/unplugging can weaken the socket IMO.

If so, yes I use one a lot of the time and find it great.

Can it do anything a wired one can't? Yes it has a 100m range so you can set the camera on a tripod and use it remotely.
One thing - don't forget to turn it off when not in use (or keep spare batteries and a small screwdriver with you)(I talk from experience on that one)
PS - I also keep a cheap ebay wired one in my bag as backup
Yeah, it's the pro ii ive been looking at. Are they half decent to use for the likes of star trails? I've read some really good reviews on them. I did however read a review where a chap used the wrong lead out of the three provided?? And it apparently cause £240 worth of damage to the body as it shorted it... :s can that really happen with this device? Other than that, I liked the sound of it!

JulesP said:Not heard of any problems putting the wrong lead in. What camera are you using?
I use mine on a Nikon D7000 and have used it many times for startrails - set it up and off you go
Mine is the original Giga T Pro, not the version II, not sure what the difference is to be honest as they both look the same to me
EDIT - just remembered you have a D7000 - Doh!
The 3 leads for Nikon are for the 10 pin round socket for cameras like the D300 (I think) , the older oblong socket as on the D80 and the square one fitted to the D7000 / D90 etc.
They are all different so cannot be put in the wrong ones

Some people love them but I wouldn't recommend it.

JulesP said:Yes if you don't turn the receiver off the battery will run down quickly (see my first post) and the transmitter does have auto power off but I've never had an issue with it shutting down - just press any button to turn it back on
Also, whilst using it for star trails as an intervalometer, it won't shut down mid program - it will carry on till its done its thing![]()

Digifrog said:The auto off only happens after the exposure has been taken. I don't find it an issue personally. As for "terrible battery life", I've still yet to change the battery so again not an issue, even less so if you have taken the wise step to carry a spare.
