I just wanted to share a recent experience I had with surprisingly good service from Hahnel. I should qualify this by saying that I am not connected with this company at all! Just posting it here in case it is useful for somebody with a similar problem.

I recently bought a Hahnel tripod (the Triad 100) through Amazon. I left the quick release plate on the camera for a couple of weeks (while I was on holiday), and last week I noticed that a bit was missing. (The quick release plate on this tripod has a little pop-up pin, held in place by a metal spring. The pop-up pin was missing - it seems the spring had come undone at some point during my holiday, probably while taking my camera out of my bag, which is a tight fit.)

I could not find quick release plates for sale anywhere, so I took a chance and emailed Hahnel directly to ask whether I could just get the missing pin directly from them. I was immediately offered a replacement plate, which I received last week. I thought this was great service, without quibbling over guarantees, proof of purchase etc.

To mods: As I didn't buy the tripod from Hahnel (and I am not sure this company sells directly to the public) I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the Equipment forum. Please move if necessary!
 
I had a similar experience - lost a lead for my hahnel remote, and the kind lady i spoke to just posted me a replacement FOC. Tidy!
