I run my own light haulage business, nothing major just an Iveco Daily pickup towing a trailer.

I'd taken some goods to a truck depot and was waiting for the forklift to unload me, a 17 tonne truck pulled up behind me and got unloaded before me

I was sat in the cab on the laptop when crunch.

he'd tried to drive round me and hit the trailer, it wasn't damaged but his side bumper and curtain were bent and ripped.
then health and safety got involved, accident reports, photos taken, then the HSE guy said they have a policy of testing anyone involved in an accident,as we weren't employees they couldn't force us but if we didn't comply they'd take it as a positive and we wouldn't be allowed back on site.

I had no problem with it so had to pee in a cup and blow in a bag, both negative as was the other driver.

i'm 48 and it's the first time i've ever been tested for drugs, as i've never even smoked a cigarette and the only time i've ever come into contact with drugs was a funny smell in a pub in 1995 I was pretty sure i'd pass :D

They should have given the other driver a vision test as well though, on the way off site he passed the security office and hit the barrier bending it

I bet he was popular, were H&S called out again when he caught the security barrier or did he just carry on out?

Lucky your trailer was not damaged though.

I thought you'd gone to bed

I had to go back in the afternoon, the HSE guy didn't know about the bent barrier so I don't know what they're doing about that

He has just sent the email so I am just finishing things then I can get some sleepy!!

I imagine they will get a different lorry to bend it the other way!!

I use to work for a large oufit where staff were tested for drugs at their regular medical and also randomly.
Nurse had to be present when you ****ed in a cup (she turned her back) and she took the temp of the urine immediately to ensure you had not brought in a sample of someone else's.

Is there any large outfit now that does not test for drugs?

I can't help but snigger at the irony of your usertitle :D

I get drug tested once a year for work, we do a lot of work in school's, police stations, prisons etc. So it's a requirement of their contract with us.

We get a hair sample taken as well as blood and urine.

I think plod take a blood test if you fail a breathalyser to ensure alls fair (hahahahahahaha)

Had a friend who got taken off the street outside a club and drugs tested, and failed, and she's clean so i don't have much faith in em tbh

I am not sure whether all these organisation screen staff for drugs.

I think the police may leave it to the discretion of individual forces.

Transportation organisations such as railways and airlines have very strict legislation and the amount of alcohol in the blood that constitutes a criminal offence is way below that which is needed to count as a driving offence.
