No
if yes, then read on!
if no, then dont bother :)

i read about this on facebook and i dont normally bother with these kind of things but i reckon is worth 79p to wipe the smile of a few smug faces this christmas

its time to RickRoll the Christmas charts

website here: http://www.ultimaterickroll.com/
facebook group here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=37655682127

and the bit i copy and pasted is here:

...to put RICK ASTLEY at the UK Christmas No.1 spot this year!

STOP THE X-FACTOR BEING NO.1 AGAIN!

HOW?

By joining this group we all pledge to purchase 'Never Gonna Give You Up' from iTunes/7Digital between DECEMBER 15-20th...even if we probably own it already via some 80's CD (or Cassette for those of us old enough to remember!)

If enough of us do this, there's a real fighting chance we could actually pull this off!

SO WHAT NOW?...

1. Invite your entire friends list
2. Badger them to do the same
3. Take a break...all that clicking means you deserve 5 minutes to yourself
4. Are you an admin for another facebook group? CHANGE THE LOGO (temporarily of course!) to one of ours here...or make your own, Hey why not post the link to all members even?
5. Post our group link on other relavent groups. The more the merrier
6. Hit the 'SHARE+' button...go on, do it now!

SO WHAT HAPPENS IN THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 15th to 20th?

1. Sign up to iTunes or another digital download service if not done so already
2. search for RICK ASTLEY
3. go to his album WHENEVER YOU NEED SOMEBODY and purchase track 1 'Never Gonna Give You Up'
4. 79p well spent don't you think?
5. Tune into Radio 1 on Sunday 21st December to see if it's worked...

Looks like a damn good idea to me.

The X-Factor has become nothing more than the marketing machine for Sony BMG records.

It's not about talent, it's about prime tme ad's for their acts in the show !

i love it, caused controversy at the mtv awards and xfactor is crap now diana has gone, i'll be joining in

:lol::lol::lol: worth 79p to do it :D

little tip for you guys:

paddypower is offering 20-1 odds that rick will be the highest place (non x-factor) single at christmas

i cant even find odds that good for him to be number one single including x-factor.

shame it only lets you put £13 on it because I was planning on betting more than that!

Listening to Absolute radio on friday night I think it was, they were saying that they should start a campaign to get the original version, or indeed any other version, of the song they plan to use for the winner, on top of the download charts to keep x-factor off the #1 slot. Sounds like a plan to me.

Answered yes to your two questions.

Wondered who this Rick fella was?

Googled and watched part of the track on YouTube.

I have to thank you for helping my diet and saving me 79p !

As much as I wouldn't actually buy anything by Rick Astley it is worth 79p to stop this X factor crap "monopoly"

I would pay 79p NOT to put Rick Ghastly at No.1 for Xmas!! :gag:

but its Rick or X-Factor..
trust me I'm deleting it as soon as i've downloaded it :)

actually i guess there is some irony about buying a song created by the awful soulless hit factory that ruined the charts in the early 90's just to stop the awful soulless hit factory that ruined the charts in the early 2000's :)

why not pick a tune that is actually ok and worth listening to??

because its christmas! If there was a decent song at number 1 then the world would lose its delicate balance and we would all be doomed!

Indeed. physics itself would be called into question and every natural law known to Man would be open to doubt and the world would disappear up it's own backside! :runaway: :runaway::runaway::runaway:

I think we should try and get the darkness the christmas number one which they missed out on to that suicidal mad world track. They were robbed.

Rick A seems like a pretty normal decent bloke to me and has a fair old voice too. He did release some truly dreadful tosh with SA&W but actually put out some reasonable material afterwards, that sunk without a trace of course.

Not sure I can raise any bothered about who gets the no.1 spot over christmas but I won't shed any tears if it's not the XF.

Forget RickRoll go for Peter Kay as Geraldine McQueen, single coming out on the 14th including the "Free Nelson Mandela-ella-ella-ay-ay-ay" montage as seen in "Britain's got the Pop Factor and possibly the next Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice" :)

I reckon we should go with "merry xmas everybody" by slade, after all it is the best xmas record ever :p

Tell that to my missus. She once played bass guitar with a band where he was the drummer, she has a very different opinion of him!

Well I've never met him so I'll bow to her experience of course.

Although I've called some drummers I've played bass with some quite descriptive things in the past they may not have always deserved. ;);)

i'll be donig it - i hate xfaxtor and such shows but Leona Lewis =

That ( mad world) was certainly a track to slit your wrists to how the **** did that make #1 especially at Christmas
( The darkness was / were pretty good and I had my money on them )

gotta be worth 79p to keep x factor off the no 1, monumental tripe that it is.
Terry and Aled may suprise us yet. go the silver surfers:D

why not pick a tune that is actually ok and worth listening to??

replacing plastic music with... plastic music

Why did they pick RA? - ear plugs please

I think some of you are missing the point :D

Who cares that its Rick Astley? X Factor should NOT be number one again, the Christmas Number one has lost all its charm since the X Factor, its like whoever wins it is guaranteed to get the no 1 chart place, even if the song is ****, which they always are :(

Who the hell buys these singles? They are just the same old crap year after year.

exactamundo

I'd rather go for Peter Kay than RA to be honest but after the last time Geraldine trounced the Simon Cowell music machine I suspect he'd go out and buy another couple of hundred thousand copies himself just t ensure it didn't happen again.
