h264 mp4 files

Hi I have a sony bluray player wired to my router and stream music photo and avi files from my pc and laptop to it but it wont pick up mp4 video files but will play them ok if I put them on a pen drive.Does anyone know how i can stream these or if its just not possible.Thanks

Does it try to play them?

just thinking file size and network speed not keeping up. I can play MP4's over my wired network OK (to WD live box/TV). Not tried wireless.

Are the mp4 files large compared to the avi?

Wonder if there is a file size limitation on the player over a network? Any firmware updates for the player?

Not really Neil, I switch the bluray player on go to the menu for laptop select videos and the only ones that are not visible are the 264 files which are tv episodes around 400mb whereas the avi files up to 3gb are visible and play fine??

I thought it might be codecs but they play from a pen drive ok so iam stumped:shrug:
