Hi,

I've googled this and none of the solutions seem to work so wondered if anybody here has any ideas.

I re-installed my system and I've just added the hdd with my documents back in. When I try and open it, I get the above but I can access it in safe mode. I'm sure it must be something to do with permissions but I don't know enough about it to fix it. I'm the computer administrator (and only user) and so far I've been into the security of the drive and made sure I have full control, I've gone into ownership and made myself the owner and I've been into sharing and made sure it's shared. There are lots of solutions online but at one stage or another I get to a point where what they tell me to do, I can't do because the option isn't there.

Anybody got any ideas? Thanks!

You don't say what type of system or which OS. Assuming a recent windows pc and that you tried ownership after turning UAC off then maybe bitlocker issue?

Sorry it's windows 7 pro 64 bit. I'm not sure what bitlocker is but will have a look thanks.

Is that as a second drive?
I've recently encountered the same issue, but not had the problem before so need to look into myself

Yes it is...well a 3rd actually. I had it running in my previous setup but since swapping motherboard etc it's occurred when I've just plugged it back in.

is it password protected as a prime drive then?
It never used to be an issue for me, but seems to be now, but that's using Windows 10

Probably better waiting for someone who definitely knows what they're talking about ;)

For some reason it suddenly works now! I'm not sure at what point it started working but I *think* the only thing I did since it didn't work until now is made a new partition on my SSD (not in any way linked to the drive that didn't work). Sorry, probably no use for you but that's what seems to have done it for me!
