i posted elsewhere ,that my son had bought a canon 100-400is lens from H-DEW in april/may this year ,a few weeks ago he noticed that when he focussed on close items there was a juddering from the a/f on it ,having several cameras in the house we swopped it around and it was definitely the lens playing up .
He phoned H-DEW up as they offer a three year warranty on there items despite being basically a grey import h.k based business .he was told to send the lens to A.J.JOHNSONS in glasgow for them to inspect it and repair if needed ,he sent it bare boned by rmsd this cost £11 ,the lens came back a few days later but unfortunately was no better ,he again phoned h-dew who told him to send it back again ,this time it was £12 ??? .
after a few days johnsons phoned to say they could not find the fault described and were sending the lens back again .it turned up on friday and after a few test shots in the garden it was apparent the fault was still present .the lad took some video on his i-phone of the actions the lens was making and the noise to which he forwarded to H-DEW they told him to send it back via rmsd £28 this time (full box) which he posted sat morning .
this afternoon (mon) he got a phone call from them offering either a exchange or a full refund to include his postage costs which he has accepted .
its really nice in this day and age to be able to offer 100% praise to after sales service to a company that although based here is not really british .hats off to them and i know where my next camera or lens will be coming from and a lot cheaper than the high street to
WELL DONE H-DEW
